Palma Day 4

We had a delayed start time 14:00 today. We arrived to the boat park and there was breeze which was very refreshing as we were thinking we wouldn’t have a postponement. Well, we were wrong haha. The radials were on our course area and with the mini squalls coming through all day, it took them longer than anticipated to get off racing.  We ended up being in a postponement as we had to wait for them to finish. We thought it shouldn’t take too long, but three hours later they decided to send us out at 3:30. We had our boat in the water off the dolly, ready to sail out off the beach, in pretty gnarly conditions we might add, and the race committee started screaming on the jetty for us not to go out. So they made all the 470s return to the beach and the race committee put up the AP again.  We then sat near our boat watching many 49ers struggle to get to the beach with the surf. It was probably 20-25 knots at this point, but with the sea state so large, it was hard to get through the breaking waves to get to the beach. All the 470 sailors with their gear on were all huddled by the flag pole waiting to hear what was happening. After another hour of waiting, this time with full gear on, they decided to call it a day. Good breeze forecasted again for tomorrow and we are looking forward to finishing the final series in a strong way.

We would like to thank the sponsors and supporters of the US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider especially our title sponsor Sperry Top-Sider.
