Sailing World Cup Miami Day 4

The later start time was nice, but we ended up having to wait for the Finn class to finish racing, which made for a longer day on the water.  We got a change of pace with the breeze today, northwest at 5-10 kts.  With a cold front coming in, the breeze was fairly inconsistent and unsteady and that made for exciting racing. The windward mark was close to shore so it was really head out of the boat conditions, and with the tides being so big, there was a lot of seaweed. We got much better at clearing our rudder and centerboard upwind so our speed was much more consistent today. We made a couple fairly large mistakes which cost us a ton of points in the scores, but we are definitely learning from our mistakes and putting this regatta into perspective. Tomorrow’s forecast looks like breeze on out of the north for the final two races of the series. 470’s are racing at noon tomorrow.
