Trofeo SAR Princess Sofia Day 5

After two races today, we are still in podium contention and will compete in the medal races tomorrow! As for the racing today, the breeze was interesting, fairly inconsistent and unpredictable.  Tactically, we saw different trends than previously in the regatta and the breeze got even more weird in between our two races today. The first race, we were in second around the first leeward mark and the next upwind we lost some boats due to a persistent shift.  We were pleased with a fourth place finish.  The second race we had a similar game plan as the first race, but the left came in hard at the start and we were at the boat. We knew we were in a tough position right away and unfortunately the pressure we saw on our beat just disappeared which made it tough to come back.  Although we were unhappy with our race, that became our throw out and we ate a 9. The 470 class is implementing a new medal race format with two races instead of the usual one. Both races count double and there are no throw outs. Our start time is 1:30 PM and we are going to hit the water with the goal of making the podium! 7 points separates us and third and there are a lot of points up for grabs!

We would like to thank the sponsors and supporters of the US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider especially our title sponsor Sperry Top-Sider.
