North American Championship

After about a month off of training to relax, recover and spend some quality time with our family and friends we met up in the sunshine in Miami for a tune up event. Though it was tough conditions, we are proud to announce that we defended our title of North American Champions!

A front had passed through a few days earlier which called for shifty, unpredictable light breeze. With our first major event this season approaching, our goals were to shake off the cobwebs of racing communication. Throughout the event, our communication improved greatly and we felt as though we were getting back into the rhythm of the boat. We were happy that this event was a tune up, as our boat speed and tactical decision making was not the best and we ended the event in 9th.

Due to the extremely shifty breeze, the race committee struggled to complete all the scheduled races. Our group sailed many races that were close to one tack beats which coincided with our goal of getting off the starting line. We still have some work to do, but are happy that we were able to shake off some rust from our time off. The reset button has been pressed and we are doing the final preparations for Sailing World Cup Miami beginning Monday!
